Why should I sign up?
Signing up is free to do and comes with a lot of benefits. First, signing up will eliminate the minimal amount of pop ups you might experience with the site. A membership will come with lots of functionality benefits with the website. In addition, and perhaps most importantly for some, you will be able to modify the database. An account gives you the ability to add lyrics, correct lyrics, and approve other people's corrections with more power.

How can I add lyrics?
Adding lyrics is simple. It is important to see if the artist you wish to contribute is already listed on the spot. If this artist is listed you can add the lyrics from the artists page with the add button. If you are positive the artist is not listed you may add these lyrics from the link on your main page for adding new lyrics. Once approved you will receive 1 site influence point for each song.

How do I correct lyrics?
Correcting lyrics is quite simple once you understand the process. Because of the large amount of corrections we receive, and our desire to have accurate lyrics, the members will now manage the corrections almost entirely. If you have an account correcting lyrics is as simple as browsing to the song, pressing the correct button and modifying the words. It is important however that you understand the rules that are laid out before you correct lyrics. After you make a correction the new lyrics are viewable on the song's page as a pending correction.

How do I approve corrections?
If you see pending correction on a certain song, someone has already submitted some corrections for it. You can look at these corrections and approve them. If you are a member of the site your vote will count more. Right now it takes 5 votes to approve, and 3 to deny. Registered users count for 2 votes, guests for 1. These numbers may change depending on how this goes.Take a good look at the corrections, and the comments. You can either approve it or disapprove of the corrections. If you disagree with them it is helpful to quickly write a comment as to why they are wrong. This will help others who correct the song. When enough votes build up in either direction the correction will either be approved or denied. Then the corrector will either receive or lose site influence, and you will get some site influence as well for approving the correction.

What is site influence?
We see lyrics spot as a resource that we and the users share. We obviously want to have the best lyrics database possible. As we are handing over site to the community, it is important to have a way to recognize our users. Site influence is a measure of how much you have influenced the lyrics resource. Whenever you add lyrics, correct lyrics, or approve corrections your site influence is credited. This number is helpful when approving corrections. If the corrector has some corrections/additions under their belt, its easier to be assured that their submissions are accurate. If we find that some users are trustworthy and would like to have greater control over the database and they have achieved a level of influence this may be possible.
